Doctors didn’t warn ‘deviant sexual behaviour’ was side effect of restless leg syndrome drug

Patients claim GPs did not tell them about significant potential side effects of treatment

Patients prescribed Ropinirole, a dopamine agonist drug for restless leg syndrome (RLS), claim doctors failed to warn them about significant side effects like risky sexual behaviors and compulsive gambling. Despite RLS causing "crawling" sensations and urges to move legs, the drug, while effective for some, has been linked to pathological gambling, binge eating, compulsive shopping, and hyper-sexuality. GSK, the drug manufacturer, was aware of the link to impulsive behaviors as early as 2003 but did not include the warning in medical leaflets until 2007.
