Doctors sound alarm over mystery illness in Congo after 50 people die within hours of symptoms

A mysterious illness in the Democratic Republic of the Congo has claimed the lives of over 50 people within 48 hours of symptom onset, with symptoms resembling hemorrhagic fever. The World Health Organization and local doctors are investigating, noting a fatality rate of 12.3%, significantly higher than COVID-19's early rate. This follows a 2023 outbreak of "Disease X," which killed 143.
