Drivers urgently warned over a £2,125 charge starting from April

Starting April 1, 2025, UK drivers will see changes to Vehicle Excise Duty (VED), with new tax rates that may cost motorists thousands of pounds



Starting April 2025, UK drivers will face new Vehicle Excise Duty (VED) charges, including electric vehicle owners who were previously exempt. New EVs registered after April 1, 2025, will pay £10 in the first year and £195 annually thereafter. EVs registered between 2001 and 2017 will pay £20 annually. EVs costing over £40,000 will incur an additional £425 annual charge for five years, totaling £2,125.
