DUP minister salutes North's links to US independence from Britain in Washington trip
DUP Deputy First Minister Emma Little-Pengelly visited Washington, D.C., to promote Northern Ireland's trade and historical links with the U.S., including Ulster Scots' role in the American Revolution. Sinn Féin's Michelle O'Neill withdrew from the trip due to disagreements with the U.S. administration's policy on Gaza. Little-Pengelly met with UK Ambassador Peter Mandelson and highlighted the upcoming 250th anniversary of the U.S. Declaration of Independence as an opportunity to strengthen ties. Communities Minister Gordon Lyons announced funding for the Ulster American Folk Park.
