Dzibanché, a significant Maya archaeological site in Quintana Roo, Mexico, has reopened following a restoration project by the Culture Ministry and INAH. The reopening highlights the discovery of three facades from the Kaanu’l dynasty, found in October 2024, featuring stucco reliefs symbolizing power through depictions of snakes and ancestors. Dzibanché, once the capital during the Classic period, is part of the Promeza program linked to the Maya Train initiative. The site includes notable structures like the Temple of the Owl and the Cormoranes Pyramid, a funerary temple for King Sky Witness. As one of several reopened sites in Quintana Roo, Dzibanché showcases its historical and cultural importance with its Petén-style architecture.
