Europeans Are Wary of Orban Loyalist’s Frequent Trips to Moscow

There’s one top official that’s been visiting Russia so often since Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine that it’s raised suspicion among his fellow European diplomats. It’s Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto and he is in Moscow again today.

Hungarian diplomat Szijjarto, a key figure in Orban's pro-Russian policy, made his 13th trip to Russia since the invasion of Ukraine, exceeding the frequency of visits by even some of Moscow's closest allies. Hungary leverages these ties for economic gain, particularly in energy, despite clashes with other EU countries and Orban's resistance to supporting Ukraine and calls for ending sanctions against Russia.
