Everyday tattoos got Venezuelan men ID'd as gang members and deported, lawyers say

Defense lawyers say some of the roughly 200 Venezuelan men the U.S. deported after accusing them of being gang members were targeted because of their everyday tattoos

Lawyers claim the U.S. deported roughly 200 Venezuelan men accused of gang membership, specifically Tren de Aragua, based on common tattoos, despite experts stating tattoos are not central to the gang's identity. The deportations occurred under an 18th-century wartime law invoked by Donald Trump, argued the gang was "perpetrating an invasion" without due process. The men were deported before meeting their attorneys.
