Donna Fitchett, who was convicted of drugging and smothering her two sons to death in 2005, was found dead in Prahran, Melbourne, shortly after being released from prison on February 25th. Her death is not being treated as suspicious and is believed to be due to a drug overdose. Fitchett had been sentenced to 27 years in prison in 2010, with a non-parole period of 18 years, but successfully appealed her sentencing and was granted a retrial in 2010 where she pleaded not guilty by reason of mental impairment.
