The Mfantseman–Saltpond Development Alliance (MSDA) has called on Parliament and the Government to formally affirm Saltpond as the exclusive location of Ghana’s first lithium-producing mine in any new lithium agreement. In a statement issued on Tuesday, the President of MSDA, Osagyefo Ernest De-Graft Egyir, stressed that the Ewoyaa Lithium Project is “officially and exclusively located at Saltpond” in the Central Region and falls entirely within the jurisdiction of the Mfantseman Municipality. “The Ewoyaa Lithium Project is located at Saltpond and nowhere else. Saltpond is the sole confirmed host community of Ghana’s first lithium-producing mine,” he stated.
