Family of Man Killed in D.C. Plane Crash Files $250 Million Lawsuit Against FAA, U.S. Army

The family of a man killed in the January 29 plane crash at Ronald Reagan National Airport in Washington, D.C., has filed a $250 million lawsuit against the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the U.S. Army. The crash, which killed 67 people, occurred when a commercial plane collided with a U.S. military Black Hawk helicopter. The family's attorney, Thomas Clifford, stated that the crash was preventable and that the family is "all so traumatized" by the tragedy. The lawsuit, filed under the Federal Tort Claims Act (FTCA), claims that the crash could have been caused by the Army, FAA, or the airline. Clifford added that the family will not file lawsuits against American Airlines or Sikorsky until the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) releases its full report later this month.
