FDA suspends Aveo Pharmaceuticals’ certification over Opioid smuggling

The FDA has revoked Aveo Pharmaceuticals' GMP certification due to allegations of opioid smuggling. Aveo, an Indian manufacturer, was found to have exported unapproved opioid drugs, containing tapentadol and carisoprodol, to West Africa via Westfin International. In response, the FDA instructed Samos Pharma to terminate its relationship with Aveo and Westfin. Additionally, the registration of six products from Masters Pharmaceutical was suspended. The FDA is enforcing measures against opioid abuse, including seizures, fines, and legal actions, while collaborating with law enforcement to prevent further illicit drug influx.
