Sepp Blatter and Michel Platini were acquitted for a second time on charges of fraud, forgery, mismanagement, and misappropriation of $2.2 million in FIFA funds. The case centered on a 2011 payment from FIFA to Platini, approved by Blatter, for advisory work done between 1998 and 2002. Swiss prosecutors argued the payment lacked a legal basis, while Blatter and Platini maintained it was a verbal agreement for backdated salary. The initial investigation in 2015 ended both men's careers and led to bans from football.
