Fuming Alan Soutar slams PDC call as Scots darts star insists they 'don't want the working man'

Soutar has joined some of his peers in letting rip at 2025 rule changes that make life difficult for those not at the top end of the game

Alan Soutar, a Scottish darts player, has criticized the PDC's 2025 rule changes, which he believes disadvantage working-class players. The new rules grant byes in tournaments to the top 16 players on the Order of Merit, replacing the previous system that favored the top 16 from the Pro Tour. Soutar, who is ranked 56th, argues that this change shuts out players like him, as they now face tougher competition. He expressed frustration that the PDC prioritizes marquee players over others, stating, "they don't want the working man." Soutar highlighted the financial disparity, noting the significant earnings gap between him and higher-ranked players. Despite his recent success, reaching the last 32 of a tournament, he emphasized the challenges faced by non-professional players. His criticism aligns with other players, such as Ryan Searle and William O’Connor, who have also condemned the decision.
