Measures if approved by Government pose ‘significant and detrimental threat’ to rights of gardaí, says GRA chief

Key objections include civilian staff involvement in disciplinary proceedings, lack of employee representation on the Garda Board overseeing discipline, and requirements for gardaí to provide potentially self-incriminating information. This adds to existing tensions between rank-and-file gardaí and senior management, including Commissioner Drew Harris, with the GRA refusing to invite him to their annual conference.
