Ghana ranks low as economic transformer with a score of 19.1% – African Transformation Index

Since 2000, it said the country's overall score has consistently hovered far below the African average of 30.3, only reaching a high of 20.6 in 2014.

Ghana has been ranked low in the African Transformation Index (ATI) with a score of 19.1%. The Africa Center for Economic Transformation (ACET) highlights weak and unstable economic progress over the past two decades, significantly below the African average of 30.3%. While the services and industrial sectors have grown, economic diversification remains limited. Exports, dominated by gold, crude petroleum, and cocoa, account for 89% of total exports, reflecting a lack of diversification and integration into global value chains, which hinders economic transformation.
