Global Fishing Watch's 2024 report highlights successes in transparent and equitable ocean governance, including research on human activity at sea, policy changes at the UN, and collaborations with governments to improve ocean management. There was a 50% increase in users of their tech tools, with around 900,000 vessels tracked on their map and nearly 1,500 research citations. Key achievements include a global map of large-vessel traffic, partnerships with governments and multilateral organizations, integration of their data into Climate TRACE, and a study highlighting the need for protection measures in whale and ship collision hotspots.
