Greece Claims Migrant Surge Tied to Middle East Conflicts as over 100 Illegals Detained

Greece has reported a surge in illegal migration, attributing it to conflicts in the Middle East. Authorities detained 107 migrants in two separate incidents near Crete, with 42 rescued from a sinking boat and 65 found on Gavdos island. Deputy Minister Stefanos Gikas noted 47,267 illegal entries into Greece in 2024 and 625 arrests for smuggling.
