Half of Britons back sending British troops to Ukraine, poll reveals

Nearly six in ten (58 per cent) told the YouGov survey that they either 'strongly' support or 'somewhat' back Sir Keir Starmer (pictured) deploying UK troops in the event of a ceasefire deal.

A poll reveals that over half of Britons (58%) support deploying UK troops to Ukraine as part of a peacekeeping force, following Keir Starmer's announcement that he is "ready and willing" to send British forces. Support varies by party, with 70% of Liberal Democrats and 67% of Conservatives backing the move, while 44% of Reform UK voters oppose it. Starmer emphasized the need for a US "backstop" to deter Russia and stressed the importance of Ukraine's involvement in negotiations. He also highlighted the need for increased defense spending to support such a deployment.
