Heated words as councillors argue over South Ayrshire budget

There were strong words galore as councillors hit out at each party's budget proposals at Ayr County Buildings last week.

Councillors in South Ayrshire engaged in a heated debate over the council's budget, with Labour Councillor Brian McGinley criticizing the budget for failing to address residents' financial struggles. Alba Councillor Chris Cullen proposed an amendment to allocate £125k annually to tackle poverty and inequality. Labour Councillor Philip Saxton requested the names of councillors in the administration. Tensions arose when Cllr Ferry, who left the Labour Party, claimed he was excluded from the budget working group, leading to conflict with Council Leader Martin Dowey, who defended the exclusion. The debate highlighted divisions and priorities among councillors.
