A Heathrow spokesperson said: 'Heathrow is experiencing a significant power outage across the airport due to a large fire at a nearby electrical substation.'
A fire at a power station shut down Heathrow Airport for at least 24 hours, causing global travel chaos. Approximately 220,000 passengers had flights cancelled, with around 1,400 planes cancelled, diverted, or delayed. Many planes were diverted to other UK airports or further afield, and over 16,300 homes in west London experienced blackouts.
