Testing by Which? using air quality monitors in volunteer homes revealed that air pollution spikes near gas hobs during cooking and lingers. Fumes from gas stoves kill 40,000 Europeans each year. Pollution from gas cookers cuts short the lives of nearly 4,000 people in the UK each year. Gas cookers leak methane even when switched off.
