A report into the School Complete Programme has found higher rates of non-attendance and more school avoidance.
An ESRI report on Ireland's School Completion Programme (SCP) found increased school absences and avoidance, and decreased engagement and wellbeing, compared to pre-pandemic levels. The SCP, which supports students at risk of early school leaving, is viewed positively but faces challenges, including increased need and socio-economic issues. The report recommends improved employment structures, increased collaboration, reviewed project boundaries, and a restructured funding model, while emphasizing the need for broader family and community support.
