A member of a South African research team at the isolated Sanae IV Antarctica base is under psychological evaluation after allegedly assaulting and sexually harassing colleagues. The individual also allegedly attacked the base leader and made death threats. The nine-member team is confined to the base due to weather conditions, and authorities have decided against evacuation. All team members underwent evaluations prior to the mission, but adjustment issues are not uncommon in such remote environments. Previous incidents have occurred at other South African research bases, including one on Marion Island in 2017.
