Holidaymakers in Balearics will need to budget up to £70 in tourist taxes for fortnight break following hikes

Cruise passengers could pay triple as the current tax to dock in the popular Spanish islands in summer

Tourist taxes in the Balearic Islands are increasing, potentially costing holidaymakers up to €84 for a two-week stay. The tax is rising to €6 per night in high season, with cruise ship passengers facing a tripled rate. A new emissions-based fee for hire cars is also being considered. These measures aim to control tourism following overtourism protests and proposals for a 40% reduction in tourist accommodation. New regulations for booking sites and fines for unlicensed properties are also being implemented.
