House GOP moves to punish Rep. Al Green for heckling Trump’s speech

‘This was beyond the pale. It went on and on, disrupting the entire evening so I felt it had to be responded to,’ Rep. Daniel Newhouse says

House Republicans, led by Washington state Rep. Daniel Newhouse, are moving to censure Texas Rep. Al Green for disrupting President Donald Trump's speech to a joint session of Congress. Green was removed from the House chamber after repeatedly interrupting Trump's address. Newhouse introduced a censure resolution, citing Green's "numerous interruptions" and stating that the disruptions warranted a response. While Newhouse claims the action is about maintaining decorum, some conservatives view it as an attempt to avoid a challenger from the right. Green acknowledged he "will suffer the consequences," and Newhouse noted broad Republican support for the resolution. Democratic leaders have not taken a definitive stance on the matter.
