Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, a senator, has accused lawmakers and civil servants in the National Assembly of diverting committee funds meant for operational expenses into personal accounts. She made these claims during an appearance on AriseTV Morning Show, where she responded to a petition filed against her by the Northern Youths Advocacy for Excellence (NOYAD). The petition alleges corruption, financial mismanagement, and mistreatment of staff, including the diversion of funds, intimidation of employees, and extortion of oil and gas companies. Akpoti-Uduaghan denied the corruption allegations, stating that she refused to participate in the practice of sharing funds among committee members and instead used the money for legitimate expenses. She claimed that the committee's account balance grew from zero to ₦13,649,335 during her tenure but was depleted after her departure. NOYAD has called for an investigation into the allegations.
