I’m not ‘rummaging around opinion polls’, Starmer says as Labour support drops

The Prime Minister told reporters in Glasgow he had not discussed Labour’s polling decline with Scottish Labour leader Anas Sarwar.

Keir Starmer, the UK Prime Minister, dismissed concerns over Labour's declining public support, stating he does not focus on opinion polls or pundit commentary. Speaking at the Scottish Labour conference in Glasgow, he emphasized his focus on delivering for Scotland and working collaboratively with Scottish Labour leader Anas Sarwar. Starmer highlighted the potential benefits of a unified Labour government at both Westminster and Holyrood, rather than discussing poll numbers. Meanwhile, Scottish Labour's support has dropped, with polling expert Sir John Curtice attributing this to Starmer's unpopularity. Sarwar expressed confidence in overcoming poll predictions, as Labour has done before.
