Inflation ticks up to 1.9% in August, short of economists’ expectations

OTTAWA — Statistics Canada says the annual pace of inflation accelerated to 1.9 per cent in August, from 1.7 per cent in July. The agency says gas prices were up on a monthly basis and fell less year-over-year in August than in July, pushing the headline inflation rate higher. More coming.
