Tormented chieftain Colum MacKenzie suffered from a rare degenerative disease
In the Starz series *Outlander*, Colum MacKenzie, the Laird of the MacKenzie Clan played by Gary Lewis, suffered from Pycnodysostosis, a rare and painful degenerative disease. Despite his condition, he maintained his position as chieftain, relying on his brother Dougal. Before the Battle of Culloden, Claire euthanized Colum to end his unbearable pain.
