The Interior Minister, Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka, has urged the Gaming Commission of Ghana to implement stricter measures to prevent minors from engaging in gambling. He expressed concern over the growing number of underage gamblers, noting many have become addicted and often skip school. During a visit to the Commission’s headquarters, he emphasized the need for collaborative strategies to promote responsible gaming and ensure compliance with the Gaming Act of 2006. The Acting Gaming Commissioner, Emmanuel Siisi Quainoo, highlighted the Commission’s progress, challenges, and future plans, including efforts to curb illegal gambling and collaborations with other authorities.
