Ireland is 'open to any invitation' to assist in peacekeeping efforts in Ukraine

Taoiseach Micheál Martin was asked if Ireland would support the UK and France’s peace coalition for Ukraine.

Taoiseach Micheál Martin stated Ireland is open to participating in peacekeeping efforts in Ukraine, following a ceasefire or agreed end to hostilities, but will not join a deterrent force. Martin's comments were made ahead of the Ireland-UK summit in Liverpool, where he and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer are expected to discuss Ukraine and other matters. Starmer, working with French President Emmanuel Macron, is seeking to create a path to lasting peace in Ukraine, hoping to get Trump's support for security guarantees. The summit will also focus on sustainable growth, safe societies, and the green energy transition.
