Ireland to donate air defence systems to Ukraine as war enters third year

Continued support for Ukraine ‘a necessity and not a choice’, Tánaiste Simon Harris to tell meeting of EU foreign ministers in Brussels on Monday

Ireland is set to donate its Giraffe Mark IV short-range radar systems to Ukraine, providing non-lethal military support as the war enters its fourth year. The transfer aims to help protect smaller towns and cities in Ukraine, while Ireland faces a temporary gap in its own air defense capabilities. Ireland will also provide training for Ukrainian troops on the systems. The move reflects Ireland's commitment to supporting Ukraine through military aid, humanitarian assistance, and political backing, particularly in international forums.
