An unprecedented Iron Age hoard of over 800 objects, including wagon/chariot parts, horse harnesses, spears, and cauldrons, was discovered near Melsonby, North Yorkshire. Dating back to the 1st century and linked to the Brigantes tribe, the find challenges the perception of northern Britain as an impoverished backwater, suggesting it was interconnected, powerful, and wealthy. The hoard, valued at £254,000, may lead to a reassessment of wealth, status, trade, and travel among Iron Age tribes and will be subject to fundraising to secure it for the nation.
