Israel urges Ghana to address consular dispute through diplomatic channels as two “mature states”

An Israeli official has denied claims that Israel apologised to Ghana over the deportation of three Ghanaian nationals, insisting that the issue was a “consular problem” that should be handled through diplomatic channels. The official, who revealed to Myjoyonline, said Israel had raised the matter with Ghana “more than once” and stressed that such issues are usually resolved quietly between “two friendly and mature states.” This contradicts an earlier statement by Ghana’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, who told the Joy FM Super Morning Show on Thursday, December 12, that Israeli authorities had apologised and that both sides were working to de-escalate the situation.
