On March 23, 2025, Israel launched a new offensive in Rafah, southern Gaza, targeting what it described as terrorist organizations. The army issued evacuation orders for residents of the Tel al-Sultan neighborhood. This follows a previous large-scale offensive in Rafah in the spring of 2024 and the end of a ceasefire with Hamas five days prior. The renewed operations coincide with deadly strikes in Lebanon against Hezbollah and the interception of a missile from Yemen. Over 520 deaths have been reported since Tuesday.
