Jajeczny kryzys w Stanach Zjednoczonych. Eksport z dalekiego kraju ma uratować sytuację

Pisze CNN.

The U.S. is facing a severe egg shortage due to an avian flu outbreak, leading to a record import of 420 million eggs from Turkey. This is the largest import in history. The avian flu has affected over 140 million poultry since 2022, with 17 million lost in the last quarter of 2024 alone. This has significantly reduced egg production and caused prices to surge by 53% year-over-year. The U.S. Department of Agriculture predicts a 20% increase in egg prices this year. Retailers like Costco and Trader Joe's have started limiting egg purchases, while Waffle House is charging an extra 50 cents per egg. The U.S., which typically imports few eggs, is now heavily reliant on Turkey, the fifth-largest global egg exporter.
