As of March 2024, only 100 of 741 hotels in Cyprus (13.5%) are licensed ahead of the April 2025 tourist season. Licensing rates vary by region: Famagusta (13 of 253), Paphos (20 of 184), Limassol (26 of 114), Larnaca (22 of 112), and Nicosia (19 of 78). A proposed law is being considered to address unlicensed hotels, focusing on temporary operating permits to ensure compliance and support the tourism sector.
