Katholische Kirche: Papst Franziskus muss länger im Krankenhaus bleiben

Pope Francis, 88, is hospitalized longer than initially planned due to a complex medical condition. His stay was initially expected to last until mid-week, but further details on the duration have not been officially disclosed. While his condition is stable, concerns about his health have grown. Vatican spokesperson Matteo Bruni stated that the pope's medical situation requires an extended hospital stay. All appointments for the week have been canceled. Initially, Pope Francis was reported to have bronchitis, which could range from mild to severe, but it has since been confirmed that he has been infected by multiple pathogens. He is in a special unit at the Gemelli Clinic in Rome, reserved for him. This is his fourth hospitalization since 2021. Despite his health challenges, the pope has reportedly remained in good spirits, even making light of his flat feet.
