Nigerian Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has directed the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) to engage with airlines to ensure that aviation workers' unions can exercise their rights and operate freely within their organizations. This directive responds to concerns from unions about airlines restricting union activities. Keyamo emphasized the importance of allowing union activities and instructed NCAA Director-General Capt. Chris Najomo to immediately commence discussions with airlines. Additionally, Keyamo assured union representatives of their involvement in airport concession discussions, promising transparency in the process. He also urged foreign airlines to patronize indigenous caterers, warning that failure to do so could affect the summer schedule. Furthermore, Keyamo revealed plans for the reconstruction of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos and potential concessions for smaller airports to improve efficiency.
