Kuda and CEO face allegations of sex discrimination and unfair dismissal from former executive, per filing
Rosemary Hewat, a former Group Chief People Officer at Kuda Technologies, has filed a complaint alleging sex discrimination, victimization, and unfair dismissal against the company and its CEO, Babatunde Ogundeyi. Hewat, who worked at Kuda for nearly three years, claims she was forced out in April 2024 after experiencing prolonged mistreatment. The complaint highlights internal conflicts and raises concerns about workplace culture and gender equality in Africa's tech industry.
Hewat accuses Ogundeyi and other senior leaders of fostering a misogynistic environment, citing instances such as public berating of female employees and exclusion from strategic discussions. She also alleges retaliation after raising concerns about share allocations and pay disparity, leading to her abrupt dismissal in February 2024. Hewat claims Kuda retaliated by withholding payments and benefits, forcing her to resign due to the toxic environment.
Kuda has acknowledged the complaint but declined to comment further, citing privacy concerns. The case, which seeks compensation for unfair dismissal, sex discrimination, and emotional distress, comes amid heightened scrutiny of governance and accountability in African tech companies.
