Donald Trump and his vice-president criticized Europe's freedom of expression as being under threat, with Trump also highlighting immigration issues. The vice-president addressed these concerns at the Munich Security Conference, expressing alarm over Europe's regression in respecting voting rights and freedom of expression, which surprised the audience. He found this regression more concerning than external threats like those from Russia and China. The vice-president also met with leaders of major German political parties. In response, Sweden's justice minister noted their robust, though not unlimited, protections for freedom of expression.
