Following a suspected diphtheria outbreak at King's College, Lagos, the Lagos State Ministry of Health initiated a vaccination campaign targeting students and established an emergency operations committee. 34 contacts of the deceased student were observed, 14 showed symptoms, and 12 were diagnosed with early signs of diphtheria and treated at LUTH. The state government is collaborating with federal health agencies, WHO, NCDC, and NPHCDA to coordinate the response, improve infection control, and distribute information. The public is urged to maintain hygiene, avoid crowds, and seek medical attention for symptoms. Lagos State has 500,000 vaccine doses in stock.
