Lammy rows back after saying Israel broke international law in Gaza

Foreign Secretary David Lammy retracted his statement that Israel broke international law by blocking aid to Gaza, clarifying he "could have been clearer." His initial remarks had differed from Downing Street's stance that Israel was "at clear risk of breaching" international law. Lammy had called the blockade "unacceptable" after Labour MP Rupa Huq questioned the consequences of blocking aid during Ramadan. The Prime Minister's spokesman reiterated that Israel's actions risked breaching international humanitarian law and urged them to abide by their obligations. Amnesty International UK has accused the British Government of violating its obligation to prevent genocide in Gaza and is calling for an immediate suspension of arms sales to Israel.
