Lanark social care worker struck off by regulator following court conviction

A social care worker from Lanark, Uchechukwu Ekemezie, has been struck off by the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) following his conviction for sexual assault at Glasgow Sheriff Court in July 2023. The conviction stemmed from an incident in November 2023 during a train journey between Lanark and Glasgow. The SSSSC ruled that Ekemezie’s actions breached public trust and that his removal was necessary to maintain confidence in the profession.
