Land's End residents near lighthouse told to buy earplugs as foghorn sounds every few seconds

Longships Lighthouse at Land's End has been keeping locals awake at night by sounding a loud beep every 13 seconds for the past week with frustrated residents told to buy earplugs

Land's End residents near Longships Lighthouse have been advised to buy earplugs due to a faulty foghorn sounding a loud beep every 13 seconds, disrupting sleep for the past week. Trinity House, which manages the lighthouse, confirmed an issue with the "audible hazard warning signal" and plans to send technicians to fix it once parts arrive and weather conditions improve. The high-pitched beep, typically heard during fog, is also affecting residents in nearby coastal areas. The 25-meter lighthouse, automated since 1988, now operates on solar power and flashes twice every 10 seconds.
