With a significant livestock population, the sector could generate over $1 billion annually in foreign exchange, create skilled jobs, and promote cultural heritage. Currently, over 85% of leather used in Nigeria is imported, impacting pricing and availability. To unlock this potential, Emmanuel advocates for modernization, skill development, infrastructure improvement, market access, branding, and a comprehensive National Leather Policy. He also highlights the importance of government support through financial incentives, credit access, and investment in research and development.
