Lee Zeldin, the EPA Administrator under President Trump, has canceled 21 grants totaling $67 million intended for "wasteful DEI and Environmental Justice" projects. Collaborating with the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), Zeldin identified these grants as part of efforts to halt what he deems wasteful spending. Affected projects include the Institute of Sustainable Communities losing $12.4 million and San Diego State University Foundation having its grant slashed. Zeldin emphasized that EPA funds should prioritize human health and environmental protection, aligning with the "Great American Comeback."
