Liberals set to select new leader and prime minister in vote Sunday

Former prime minister Jean Chrétien is expected to take the stage as speaker, as is Prime Minister Justin Trudeau

Mark Carney won the Liberal leadership with 86% of the vote, defeating Chrystia Freeland, Karina Gould, and Frank Baylis. Carney, who has never held elected office, raised the most donations and garnered the most endorsements. He will be sworn in as prime minister and plans to appoint a smaller cabinet and reverse some of Trudeau's policies. The leadership change comes as Canada faces a trade war with the U.S.
