London school board sorry for 'harmful' quiz that stunned Indigenous child
The Thames Valley District school board apologized for a "harmful" and "triggering" quiz about Indigenous people and residential schools given to 12-year-old Waaseyaa Couchi at Lester B. Pearson School for the Arts in December 2024. Couchi, a member of the Nipissing First Nation, has not returned to school since. Her father criticizes the board's response as inadequate in restoring a safe learning environment and addressing the harm caused.
