Major energy firm offering eight days of free electricity to thousands of households

E.ON Next announced today that it will not charge customers for the electricity they use on all eight English bank holidays over the next year if they sign up for the firm's Pledge tariff this week

E.ON Next is offering eight days of free electricity to thousands of households who sign up for its Pledge tariff. The free electricity will cover all eight English bank holidays between April 1, 2025, and March 31, 2026. Scottish customers can also sign up, but the offer will only cover eight of Scotland's nine bank holidays. The exact savings will be confirmed by the energy regulator on February 25. E.ON Next estimates that a typical household could save £28 annually if it remains on the tariff for a full year, based on average annual electricity usage of 2,700 kWh. The free electricity will be issued as a bill credit. The offer is part of E.ON Next's Pledge tariff, which is designed to stay below the energy price cap and changes four times a year.
